Crying Madonna Phenomenon
"This is a work of fiction. Names,characters...are either the product of the authors imagination or are used fictiously. Any resemblence to ...is entirely coincidental."
I just have finished reading a book by Rita Mae Brown in which the central story is based upon a fictional monastery located way up in the hills of Virginia. In this story, it tells of the emergence of a Madonna statue that is crying tears of blood.
Mmmmmm, this whole matter of the crying statue in Spain is very interesting! Which came first the egg or the chicken?

Buyer Beware...Its HIM again
Oh no, he's back in the news again, and once again he claims that he has a service to sell! This guy is surely suffering from the syndrome--A Legend In His Own Mind!
Monsieur Mike, ( Arabian Horse raconteur),( FEMA director extraordinaire), Brown of "your doing a good job Brownie" notoriety, claims that we and the media especially, have done him wrong..boo hoo. Therefore in an effort to prove that he truly does possess skillz, and to show his true mettle, he is going to start up a consultation business on emergency(ha, ha,) preparedness..which will help others who have to contend with emergencies of the nature that he was faced with. His past hurricane Katrina and Rita debacles (my words, not his) has given him the experience with which he can help out others. Excuse meeee, but wasn't this guy just recently fired from his FEMA position rather publicly for that matter, uh oh, I've forgotten, sorry, it wasn't his fault...it was the fault of the dysfunctional Mayor and Governor of New Orleans. This is the same guy who before going to FEMA had been the Judges and Stewards Commissioner for the International Arabian Horse Association, an organization from which he was forced to resign from because of numerous lawsuits filed against it. Talk about the fleecing of America, this man takes the cake! Who in their right mind will pay him for his services? Now that I think of it, probably someone, many folk have short memories it seems. Well all I can say to this is- if he manages to continue to scam people successfully as he did this last time...being able to remain on the government payroll for two months beyond his dismissal, as the saying goes, fool me once...fool me twice...fool me thrice, shame on me. This man does not offer the milk of human kindness!
Music has charms to soothe the savage beast, turning up volume of cd player... Buyer Beware!

Resolute Children (Cancer Patients)

Tonight I watched a most wonderful news story about children with terminal cancer. The point of the story was the idea of allowing them to make decisions involving their own treatments rather than just the parent and doctor thing that has been the norm. Two children's cases were highlighted, one girl (12 or 14) and a boy (11 or so-now deceased). The young girl was interviewed in her room at the childrens hospital and was asked how did she feel about having cancer. She has lost her hair and her response was this " smilingly, she said, all of her friends were at school each day, making out with their boyfriends and girlfriends and here she was in a hospital room, dealing with chemotheraphy and different kinds of treatments. She stated without hesitation that chemotherapy is awful (yes it is). This child has made the decision that for as long as she remains alive, she is willing to be a volunteer for testing new medicines and treatments. The whole while that she was talking to the reporter, she had a smile on her (lovely little) face ! (:) from me to her! The second child interviewed was a boy who is now deceased. He made a decision not to take the radiation treatments and opted to just continue to enjoy whatever amount of time he had left in his life playing, needless to say, his parents where devasted by his choice but then remembered they had agreed to allow him to make decisions about his treatments or in this case, his non treatment. His parents said his last days were spent in merriment and him having fun! (:) rest in peace from me to him! As is said so many times, out of the mouth of babes.
Why I am so touched by this story is that I too am dealing with cancer...for the past two years its been an on and off again dilemma. At early period of my treatment I was doing both chemo and radiation, and on the day of my last radiation treatment my oncologist caught and stopped me as I ran down the hallway waving goodbye to everyone and singing and shouting out loudly "free at last, free at last, thank god almighty my ass is free at last, lol, I was being radiated in the abdomen and butt area. Anyway, the doctor wanted me to meet someone. He took me into his office where there on the floor was a little boy child crawling around, he introduced me to the child and he told the child to give me a hug! The baby crawled over to my legs and hugged me and was being playful with me. Okay, so I'm thinking to myself whats up doc (no pun intended bugs ); I asked the doctor how old the child was and what was going on. He told me the baby was three years old and had been brought in by his parents to make arrangements for his radiation treatments. My mouth dropped open, I looked down at the child hanging onto my legs and I began to cry. I just could not believe that anyone that tiny had to go through what I had been through twenty eight times. With radiation treatments one spends more time undressing and being arranged on the table than being actually being infused/zapped by the rays themselves.I couldn't stop the tears as I drove home so I went to a Barnes and Nobel bookstore ,talked to a friend who worked there, told her about the little boy and she helped me pick out an appropriate gift for him. It was a childs book in the form of a fire truck, took it over to the hospital the next day and asked my oncologist to give it to the boys parents whenever they returned.
To sum this thing up, those kids I spoke of at the beginning reflect not only how brave and resolute they are/were but also that many other children are as well. With each waking breath may I be as strong as they.

Shades of the Jerry Springer Show...lol
Well I'll be damned, went upstairs earlier tonight to catch up with my DVR recordings, clicked on Oprah and the subject was Terry McMillan of How Stella Got Her Groove Back fame and her divorce from her husband because he is gay. I never did watch the Jerry Springer show when it was on and was just about to erase the Oprah show. What stopped me was that I couldn't believe that Terry and Oprah were on doing this stuff so I kept watching in order to find the answer. Terry's got a new book out, sweeps week for Oprah? It wasn't until the end of the show that I got it. Oprah bought the rights to Terry's latest book-The Interruption of Everything and is going to produce the movie. I have read this book and it like everyone that Terry has written is excellent and full of life teaching experiences. I'm glad that I did watch this program as it put it out there in plain english what lying and pretending does to the human spirit. I most certainly could relate to the fact that she had been betrayed by someone who portrayed himself as something he was not (heterosexual), he was doing the downlow thingy. It was very clear that she was still in love with him but very angry about his propensity towards men instead of her. It was also clear that he looked upon her as big sister rather than a lover! After all she has money and took him out of the poor lifestyle that he had led in Jamaica and by marrying her moved into the good life and protected his real sexuality from being discovered by others.
But as life generally goes, the truth will ALWAYS emerge in the end, she was fooled and now realizes that she has to make better decisions about people she befriends in the future. Now, I can relate to this, All THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD, and that is for sure! But a lesson is a lesson no matter how much it hurts, and the ultimate lesson is to learn from it, and not let it happen again! The lesson for her former husband is to stick his ego in his boyfriends hole and leave innocent women alone.
Glad I didn't errase that tape, couldn't imagine why Terry would want to air all of that on the media, but perhaps it was theraputic!
Oprah rules fo sure....lol.

C'mon Get Off It!
Now I know I'm not the only one who believes that some members of our government speak out of both sides of their mouths! As the NBC news anchor calls it "The Fleecing Of America". Nearly two months after he resigned, Michael Brown is no longer on FEMA's payroll. How better an example of government misdeeds shoved down our throats than the fiasco covering Mike Brown, the man our president stood besides, patted him on the shoulder and said "Brownie...yer doing a heck of a job." Two days later, Brownie was replaced as the Director of Fema, (wonderful insight and judgement shown by our top leader two days earlier) ehh? It was a known and proven fact that this high paid cretin was not up to the task of directing and fulfilling the responsibilites of FEMA. Yet, he was allowed to remain on the payroll even though he had in fact formerly submitted his resignation. This man was hired at a salary of $148,ooo.oo greenbacks. After he resigned, Brown had no decision-making or management responsibilities, yet he got paid! There are qualified persons nationwide who can't find employment that matches their real skills and work for much less than they are worth and our government gives that loser all that money for doing nothing, its disgraceful! Politicians (most) are not fair and play very nasty games with us.
It is okay to pay someone who was quilty of malfeasance but then they turn around and submit to Congress a budget that puts many worthwhile and needed government programs on the chopping block...i.e. Education, Health and Human Services, Energy, Labor and Housing. As the saying goes, the rich get richer and poor get poorer. Politics, politics, a sad commentary in our society.
My final thought here concerns the situation surrounding the New York Times reporter Judith Miller. I read that she has left that paper, this after spending time in jail protecting a source of a story. Something doesn't quite mesh here, but, like I often say...they, them, and those are strange bedfellows!

Blogging...A Competition?
Excuse me for this little ditty but I just don't get it!! This site that I mostly write blogs on is now running a contest (for lack of a better term) on whose blog is the most popular?? I have read a number of the so called popular blogs in a variety of categories and what I have observed thus far is they (the blogs) are most times authored by teen-agers, who are putting down someone or something that is encroaching upon their pysche or space if you will. This is fine, and many are funnny, but what makes for a more popular journal than anothers? The use of Fuck You, or Fuck That, Calling folk Bitches and Hoes or Cunts, is that a criteria? Shit, I can do that, if it is necessary, lol, but that is not my style nor choice of interacting and communicating with others, or
is being 14, 16 or 20, you know, the worldly peeps (lol) the hook in getting selected for having produced the most popular blog.
Blogging is in my mind an outlet for one's thoughts and ideas-- true or not? Therefore who is to say that anothers thoughts and ideas are better than anyone else's? Who is doing the judging, what is being measured in making these judgements, how, are these judgements being made and most importantly why?
I've read a number of the so called "creme de la creme" and you'all gotsta be shitting me! I've observed a number of the cool sites when checking out some blogs, wonderful imaginations and very creative, but what is it some of you are talking about? It must be a misunderstanding on my part of what is intended by this production and introduction of "View Most Popular Blogs"....sorry I don't get it, perhaps, someone can 'splain it to me...(:).
